Hi, we are Kevin & Rachel Worlton and we are happy to meet you! I always wonder about these "about us" pages and if people read them. So if you are here, thank you! Thank you for taking the time to get to know us a little. Here is our Island Cycles & Beach Gear Rentals story....

Island Cycles & Beach Gear Rentals had been serving Hatteras Island for 26 years when we bought it in June of 2019. We were living in Utah at the time and had never really been on this side of the country much before. We came for a week visit to the outer banks and ended up buying a business and a house!  I'm still not sure what we were thinking!  Kevin loves bikes and I love the beach. Sooo boom. Let's buy a business and move to the other side of the country. Thank goodness, this place is magic and we are happy that we went temporarily insane and made the move here. We got lucky!

Every year we are here we fall in love with this place a little more.  We learn a little more, get a little smarter, and we are excited to share it with you. There are so many cool things to do, see, and eat here.  We have a list of our favorite things so far on the site.  So check it out.  If you have questions, doesn't have to be beach gear related, please ask!  We love to help you figure this place out!  

Kevin and I are so grateful for our customers and we do our best to take care of them! Our favorite thing is that the visitors to the outer banks come back year after year!  We look forward to seeing our loyal repeaters and also making new relationships with the ones who are discovering our area for the first time.
